V5, V6 and V8 Engines
AP Balancing has over forty years experience with balancing ‘V’ engines. Invaluable experience was amassed during the 1970’s when Trevor Wilkinson pioneered balancing techniques which were universally used by virtually every Formula 5000 team who raced in the category on three continents.
The reputation gained resulted in being inundated with V8 engines from all catagories worldwide, including Can-Am and Formula 1.
Balancing any ‘V’ engines involves the addition of ‘bob’ weights applied to each of the big end bearings and are a percentage of the rod/piston weights attached to the crankshaft. It is the preparation of these weights that determine the quality of the finished job, given that the balancing equipment’s calibration is maintained.
