Congratulations to Trevor Wilkinson
At the end of 2009, Trevor Wilkinson will celebrate 30 years as a Director of a Balancing Company – and it could have been longer!
Trevor was the founder of Wilkinson Dynamic Balancing back in 1968 and built up the company through his knowledge, experience and reputation in the market place. Then in 1993, he sold the business, to move onto other projects.
Trevor became a well-known and respected Engineer in the dynamic balancing of crankshafts. His knowledge had been put to good use in many areas of Motor-racing, Motor-cycle racing, Hill climbing, etc. In particular he became well known for work on the NASCAR engines in the USA.
Experiences in these fields were expanded to many other areas of industry where problems existed with rotating shafts. Whether it be Aerospace turbines or electrical alternators and motors, Trevor was able to show benefits in performance/efficiency, and importantly reliability and cost savings.
In 1993 he wanted to try different projects, much to the sadness of his many customers, many of which kept in touch.
After a number of years, and in part due to requests from old clients who valued his knowledge, he, with Martyn Wilkins, purchased a small machining company outside Bristol – Andrews Precision Limited. In 2005, with a couple of second hand machines, Trevor started to do work for those clients who had nagged him to start up again.
Andrews Precision moved to their current premises at Unit 86g, Blackpole Trading Estate West, Worcester, WR3 8TJ, in 2007. In the following 12 months, the business grew by over 100% in the year. Now balancing all types of products, such as alternators, flywheels, electric motors, as well as a wide variety of crankshafts they have also developed a niche market in the machining of special valve guides,
